Overnight Search for Man Accused of Shooting an HCSO Deputy Ends With Arrest in Channelview
Chase Layne Patin, 25, was taken into custody this morning, October 1st, following an overnight search connected to the shooting of a Harris County sheriff's deputy in Channelview. Sheriff Ed Gonzalez said the arrest occurred without further incident.
Authorities said the deputy was responding to a family disturbance on Bayou Drive around 6:30 PM Wednesday, September 30th, when Patin allegedly shot him. The deputy remains hospitalized and is expected to recover, according to Gonzalez. Investigators allege Patin then fled in a patrol vehicle, which was recovered near Dell Dale and the East Freeway. A Blue Alert was issued Thursday morning during the search.
An arrest is not a conviction. Patin is presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
