Seems they are very active right now. Maybe fueling up for hibernation

It seems like there are a lot of copperheads in Kingwood, any reason?

Are moth balls good to put down for them? Someone told me that one time.
Kittle, mutton and Chickadee reacted #msg6019567v1kings28 : That is a copperhead. My next steps would get the basket/net for the pool and scoop that thing into a bucket with a lid.

all snakes can swim, some better than others. :0 also, watch for other snakes, as this one may have been a Mama, or part of a mid-summer litter.
He looked a little bleached out from the chlorine.

Is this snake season ? It seems a lot of peeps are reporting them.
My dog was barking wildly at something in one of my flowerbeds. I thought that he spied a lizard.
Nope, it was a snake and it was hissing at him.
From a distance I got a picture of it on my phone and Google identified it as a hogshead snake . It said harmless to people and dogs. So I brought the dog inside and went outside a few hours later and it was gone.
The two main wildlife critters that I'm afraid of are snakes and rats ( mice too).
