I am Done!!! I am done with Suddenstink(Optimum)!! I have been with them for over 27 years! Looking back at my records, in 2022, my bill was under 100.00.
Yesterday I got my new bill, and I is now over $260.00!! I'm one little old lady watching TV and using my computer a few hours per day. I am on a fixed income, and this is way too much for my budget.
For those of you who have switched, who did you switch to? And what are the key words to use so that I don't spend 2 hours on the phone to cancel. Also with the constant outages this bill really sent me reeling!
Do I call and cancel first? Or do I contact the new company to set up first? Really looking for some help with this mess!

SIGirl : Call and set up a fiber internet provider first. Then cancel Optimum. For TV, set up a streaming service such as YouTube TV or Fubo.
We switched to Tachus about 3 years ago. Best move ever. My monthly bill for internet only is $80.00 mo.

sweetie : We have DISH Network - now that is expensive and we are toying with the idea of changing that.

SIGirl : I switched to Tachus/EZ $99/mo. Get it all installed and working then cancel Suddenlink/Optimum. Take pictures of all the serial numbers on your equipment. I went in person to office to cancel. Make them give you a receipt that all equipment was returned/service cancelled. Good luck!
sweetie : We use Utube for the tv. I personally liked cable better but this is much cheaper. Tachus for the internet.
I never had a problem with Optimum going down. But butler wanted lower rate. And he dumped the hard line. I had that phone number for 36 years. I told him you just got rid of the one thing that kept me in this house.
It is worth it to get a different Internet. Tachus has a generator at every hub so when a storm hits you don't loose the Internet for mega days. It pops right back on. Of course this is only helpful if you have a generator as well.
SIGirl : Tachus for Internet and Utube for tv. Go to Optium in person and bring all the equipment and demand a receipt. Butler did that and they can't argue with it. He told them they were just too expensive.

SIGirl : Tachus. I pay $71 per month. My speed is around 300 which is fine for me. Good luck! Just be prepared though.....Optimum will promise you the moon and keep you on the phone forever trying to keep you as a customer. They will make all kinds of tempting offers...don't fall for it friend!
Donnawisdom : I switched our house line to an old cell phone so we didn't lose the number!
Donnawisdom: this is the best idea because they will hold you hostage on the phone and try to talk you back into staying with better offers than only last 30 days . so frustrating!!
