Has anyone experiencing internet/wifi outages with optimum? This

someone here was having problems last week . sorry they have been such a pain. I did not change to them because of their 'too good to be true' offers.

Its just annoying losing internet out of no where. What works good in kingwood? I know theres some better than others due to the trees.

We switched to Tachus as soon as it was available and have never regretted it. Outtages are unusual and they are quick to repair. With Optimum it would be out several times weekly.

Tachus does seem to get the best ratings and reviews.

Don't know why people still use them unless that's the only option. Heck tmobile wifi is probably better

Optimum was horrible when I had it in Hunters Ridge. TMobile home Internet was better. I feel like just about anything is better that Optimum. I live in Kings Manor now and can get Xfinity. I have had zero problems with them!

LittleTexas : By default, Tachus will be better than optimum as their entire network was recently built, compared to Optimum that in parts of Kingwood is 50 years old. As I understand it, fiber does not require the same level of powered switches as cable does, so fiber internet can remain on when power to a neighborhood is out. Coax cable that comprises Optimum's system just seems to have more problems than fiber, which could be because the fiber is run through conduit, whereas the coax cable is buried directly in the ground.

Dingo71 : sweetie :No problems with our Optimum service recently but we are in a relatively new area. Check with neighbors to see if they are having similar issues, or if it's just service to your house or your modem.

The optimum plant in kw has been severely neglected. Always go with fiber over coax. There are some sections of optimum that have fiber but never ftth. Can't get old school cable boxes with any fiber company, only streaming.

buffaloglenn : it was outages here in my neighborhood. I have had nothing but trouble with them, but I don't like change so I'll keep them. Lol
