Which local auto shop do you trust for A/C work?
Yes, car AC decided to stop working in the middle of the hottest month.
I've gotten three estimates from two shops in Kingwood and one in Porter. Unfortunately, they all have varying opinions on what the fix is ranging from 900 to 2500.

+1 for Allen's, he's worked on 2 of our vehicles (it's been several years ago though) very good price and did a great job. Never had any issues with either after that.

We've used Clifford's in Atascocita for all of our auto repair work for 10+ years and have nothing but good experiences with them. They replaced the AC compressor on my daughter's care a few weeks ago and the price was what I expected based on a couple of co-workers who have had it done recently.

My a/c was low on Freon and had an expansion valve that was broken but I took it to Green and White Automotive in Spring. I don't remember the cost but it was fixed .

Dan's Garage, mine wasn't working, it was blowing hot on the driver's side. I took it to the dealer to get charged. That didn't work. I called Dan and told him the symptoms. He said that if it's overcharged it won't work either. He tested it. Sure enough they must have overcharged it. There were leaks that indicated that it had been overcharged. He fixed the leaks and replaced the coolant. It works great now and he only charged me $150. I don't know about the cost if it was the compressor it condenser, but he is honest and down to earth.
Another recommendation for Allen's. They have been fantastic. They have done: timing chain and catalytic converter for a F150 and timing chain and water pump for an Explorer. We are having them take care of our oil changes. They have been fantastic.

That's why ya wanna have the proper pressure gauges when working on an AC, plus a leak detector.
That's the first one I took it to.
I have always had a good experience with these guys. But this time I'm questioning their diagnosis.
