Humble ISD " Erase the Need" event, held at Second Baptist Church in Kingwood, yesterday, August 7, was a huge success. Tons of kids were given free back packs, school supplies, hair cuts, etc. ................and, Humble Area Retired Teachers Assoc. (HARTA) participated by giving away 2397 free books to some very happy kids! HOORA!! ( You're right, I do not have to go to the Y today.)

Humble Noon Lions also did free vision screening. One of our biggest - screened 185 kids and found 55 with possible issues. The kids can now be examined by an optometrist to identify the issue and start treatment.

I posted about seeing the parking lot packed and people standing in line to get in on Friday....wondered what was going on. It looked like it was a huge success!

Glad to hear that students received needed supplies for education. Many people are struggling to pay basic bills and increasing food costs and don't have extra to buy school items.

It was good for the teachers too. My wife was a teacher for a couple decades. If the kids did not have paper, pens, pencils, spiral tablets, or high lighters.........SHE got them for her class..............on a teachers salary. So, Humble ISD did good.
