Update: Kingwood Fire Station 101 Temporarily Closed as Moisture Repairs ContinueHouston Fire Station 101 in Kingwood is temporarily closed while crews address a moisture issue inside the facility.According to information provided by Houston District E, the station's personnel and emergency apparatus have been temporarily relocated to Fire Stations 104, 102 and 65. Officials said emergency response coverage will continue without interruption during the closure.An independent contractor began removing damaged insulation on July 2nd. Additional problems were reportedly discovered after demolition started, and an updated timeline for completing the repairs is still being developed.The closure comes less than two years after the city completed around $445K in renovations at Station 101. That work followed concerns involving mold and other facility conditions and included housing and sanitation improvements.Meanwhile, the city is nearing completion of the property acquisition process for a new, modern Fire Station 101. The future station is planned for a site just west of the current facility on Kingwood Drive.
