There is a meeting scheduled by Council Member Fred Flickinger on June 11 at 6:00 PM. The meeting will be held at the Kingwood Community Center, 4102 Rustic Woods Dr. Representatives of all Kingwood non-profit organizations, HOAs, and Trail Associations are invited to attend to learn about the City's Neighborhood Matching Grant Program which provides City of Houston financial support to make improvements in Kingwood neighborhoods. The City will match up to $5,000 in expenditures for projects designed to improve Kingwood. In the last City fiscal year, the City of Houston contributed over $35,000 to projects meant to improve safety and beautification of Kingwood. Several of these projects were aimed at removing invasive vines and Yaupon from Kingwood medians. This year we hope to have neighborhood HOA's, Trail Association and other Kingwood non-profits make applications for Matching Grants to cler additional median on major Kingwood streets. We are also looking for HOAs, Trail Associations and non-profits to make applications to plant native trees and bushes in the medians cleared the previous year. All Kingwood residents are invited to attend to se how they can help return Kingwood to be the Livable Forest it once was. A major objective of these projects is to improve motorist safety in Kingwood by removing vegetation at intersections that limit the ability of drivers to see oncoming traffic at busy intersections.
