Tachus
Built to keep you connected.
Even when the weather isn't.
Hurricane season starts June 1. Here's how Tachus is built to stay more resilient when storms hit.

Underground by design

Tachus's network is nearly 100% underground, helping protect your connection from severe weather and reducing exposure to many of the disruptions that can happen during storms. Unlike aerial networks strung overhead on telephone poles - which are vulnerable to high winds, falling trees, and flying debris - buried fiber is shielded from the elements that cause most storm outages.

No network is storm-proof. But starting underground gives us a stronger foundation when severe weather hits.

The neighborhood hub

An internet cabinet is the metal box you've probably seen tucked along the street in your neighborhood. We install them throughout the neighborhoods we serve - each one is a secure, weatherproof, climate-controlled hub that houses the essential equipment running your internet.

The internet needs power to function - that's true for every provider. So we designed our cabinets with backup power that keeps you connected when the grid goes down, even for extended periods.

It's the local link that connects our main network to your home - sealed, shielded, powered, and storm-ready.

How we prepare

Before storms
We prepare before the weather arrives
Our Network Operations Center tracks every storm as it approaches, so we're ready before it makes landfall. You'll hear from us with updates - and if you have questions, our local customer service team is right here to take your call. We fuel and stage our trucks early, positioning crews to respond fast to power outages or damage the moment it's safe to roll.

When weather hits
We stay connected to the neighborhood
When the storm hits, our team monitors the network from a hardened, generator-backed facility - built to keep running when the grid can't. And because we're local, the people watching over your connection are your neighbors: Houston-based customer service and crews who know these storms, know these streets, and don't have to travel in from out of state to help. We keep you in the loop the whole way through - sending updates as conditions change so you're never left guessing about your service. If you lose power at home, emergency Wi‑Fi hotspots built into our cabinets help keep you connected when it matters most.

Tachus operates more than 3,000 miles of underground fiber with redundant pathways built to keep communities connected through severe weather.

Built for speed.
Built for the neighborhoods we serve.
Built for the weather we live in.
We won't promise perfection. No provider should. But our network is designed to stay more resilient during severe weather and help our teams restore service faster when conditions are at their worst.

Interesting that they are using Tachus and not Ezee Fiber. When we had ours installed, a supervisor came out to correct a problem and was driving an Ezee Fiber marked truck. Like others, we have noticed some blips lately.

MissAmericanPie : We must be lucky because we didn't have outages last week. Since Tachus was installed 3 years ago, we've had few downtimes.

I wish I could sway to them but they don't service this complex.
