MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Texas - A Porter man has pleaded guilty to shooting and killing a federally protected bald eagle at his home.Santos Guerrero, 42, admitted in court that he shot the bald eagle on Oct. 11, 2024, according to the Department of Justice. Authorities were initially called to the scene after getting reports of the shooting. Investigators reviewed video footage that captured the eagle being shot and tumbling from a tree. Officers then went to Guerrero's home, where they were able to match the tree at the property to the one visible in the footage.

They say he has not been sentenced but most likely get a year and $100,000 fine.

I don't think he had a motive. He just shot it. Why kill a bird?

nouser : They've been here for years. There was an issue with a nest on lake Houston when they built the bridge.

nouser : They are all over river grove park.

There are tons of eagles in and around Lake Houston. It's good habitat for them. You may not always recognize them because it takes until they are 4 or 5 years old for them to develop their iconic white head.
