Kingwood Painted Tree Permanently Closing

Loading Image...

Doors to the Painted Tree were closed to the public as of this morning, April 14, 2026.

A source at the Kingwood store confirmed that the Kingwood location was closing permanently. Painted Tree sent out the email message below to their vendors.

Email sent to us said to be from Painted Tree:

"Dear Shop Owners,

It is with deep regret that we write to inform you that Painted Tree Boutiques has made the very difficult decision to cease all business operations today; Painted Tree will not be conducting any further retail sales at any location.

We understand the impact this has on you and your business, and we are truly sorry. We know many of you have invested significant time, energy, and resources into building your spaces at Painted Tree, and this is not the outcome any of us hoped for.

Retrieving Your Inventory
A skeleton crew will be present at each store location to assist you with inventory retrieval during the following window. Please call the store to notify them when you are there, and our team will open the door for you.

Dates: Today, Tuesday, April 14 through Sunday, April 24, 2026

Hours: 10:00 AM - 6:00 PM (local time), daily"

Thanks for letting us know. Sorry to see another place close. They didn't seem too busy except around holidays . They also seemed to have issues with theft even with cameras.

I'm sorry to hear this news, and for the vendors that relied on this place to generate income. It's also a shame that that space will be empty again, hopefully someone will be able to rent it and make it a permanent home at some point.

Sadly, another vacant space and sad for PTB. That is not a surprise to many of us given how much shoplifting they endured. I would love to see Steinmart return. Or..something comparable.

I am surprised the vendors didn't get advanced warning of this. If, you're on vacation, do you lose your inventory? Found some great items there. Sorry to see them close.😢

Sad to hear.
I love the concept, however if a vendor isn't present and in control of their booth and collecting their own money after paying space fees, it's ripe for theft and failure.
I think mixing imported mass produced junk with handmade products is counter productive also. You either want to be a department store or a makers market. Also the artist/ maker being present builds short and long term relationships.
I always have a problem when I'm asked to pay for space and then a 60/40 split with 60 for the space owner.
Remember, no one will as hard as you to sell your art/ products.
