Classifieds

I'm so grateful that kingwood.com has the 'Classifieds'. My only complaint is some of the responders.
1. Dimensions:
a. Once I was selling a commemorative Texas coin, someone wanted the dimensions of it (Really!).
b. Selling a computer monitor. They too want the dimensions.
Everyone that sends me a message about wanting the dimension never respond back after I send the info to them.
2. Promises Not Kept - Some will tell me they will buy a certain item, we make plans were to meet and, never show up.
3. Some will promise to buy, they pick up the item, then their response is, "Oh, how much is it again?" I remind them. Then they tell me that they only have a certain amount of money. So I end-up taking a $5 to $20 lose on the item(s).
4. Strange Lady - This was years ago, don't see her anymore. Every time I posted something, she would send me a message that day, that she can pick up that day. If I responded to her, there was no follow-up.

So, kingwood.com, no complaints to you. Appreciate this link.
Thank you.

Genesis : That is a red flag and a huge scam. Just like those who want to bicker at garage sales when you are practically giving things away. You are in control and have every right not to fall for it, standing firm on your agreed price. I would take copies of the texts/emails to prove what they agreed to.

As far as monitor dimensions, that's a legit question and very relevant.

Dealing with people like this is exactly why I don't get involved in online or yard sales.

Genesis : I truly do understand how you feel but I don't sell much in the classifieds. I do, however, buy stuff. I have commented on items and the seller never replies. The item is never marked sold or removed. So, it's not just buyers who do not know how to act. Sellers can be just as bad. If they don't want to message people because something has sold they should at least mark the item sold or remove the item.

TEXASGIRLMAMMA :
Yeah, true some buyer can be bad.
I sell to get rid of good items I don't need or want any more. So I want to make a few dollars out of it. If I can never sale them; I'll take the metal items for scrap metal, and donate the other items.

Genesis : That's good! When I am asking questions of the seller I always reply in some way to let the person know if I am interested or not. It is the right thing to do!

Genesis : When you take a picture of something like a coin put a dime or quarter or something next to it in the picture to let buyers see approx size. Some people hold a measuring tape next to the item in the picture so that measurement shows in the pic. As far as price goes you can put "firm" in the ad if you don't want to entertain offers. Most people have a reasonable margin in mind of what they are willing to accept. Then If someone offers you a lower price you can counter offer it simply say my price is firm.

teatime : Understand, but it was a coin.

I am glad as well that Joe has the classifieds available. Yes, selling items can be a challenge. I seem to have more cancelations than sales which is disappointing.

The only reason I am in the forum is the classifieds. I had no idea about the chat part. Turns out I don't do classifieds just the chat 😂😂😂

It definitely can be frustrating. I posted a couch for free. This lady shows up with no help to load it. She told me she was borrowing a truck and had help. I am too nice I helped her and it was heavy. Fortunately I didn't hurt myself but I know in the future to say they must load.

KingwoodNana : Yeah, that's great point. A few times I've sold furniture. Put an advisement in the posting to have a pickup or whatever means to pick it up in. Told them I don't deliver. Because one person wanted me to deliver.

Another point (number 4) which I forgot.
4. Request items.
I've had some people ask me if I had a different item. I've responded back that I am not a store or a mail order department.
