Bless y'all. I cannot keep an orchid alive for more than a week. I Really think they commit " orcha-cide" when they realize I am their new owner!

Keep on the windowsill in the most humid bathroom. Spouse hardly ever waters hers. She has several. The dampness from the showers seems to be really good for them.

@CatalinaKitKat :
Your orchid is very happy with whatever you are doing. To encourage more growth, cut it off above the second or third node from the bottom after flowering. Thus, on this spike you would trim here after all the flowers on the lower limb are done blooming.

Thank you for the tips, I didn't know about that and I appreciate your advice. I would love to be able to keep it thriving for many more years to come.

Beautiful! One thing I have never achieved is having it bloom again!❤️
@CatalinaKitKat :
jv339 Almost every commercially purchased orchid is packed overly tight in sphagnum moss for shipping. Once it's done blooming, take it out of the pot and carefully unwind the roots from the potting medium plug. Trim any roots that don't look healthy, plump, smooth, and green. You are supposed to do this with clippers that you've sanitized with peroxide but I've, honestly, never done that. Repot with orchid bark that is found in most any garden center. It's best to bottom soak them every couple weeks. I've done the ice cube watering but, supposedly, that shocks the roots. Lately I've been experimenting with replacing my orchid bark with leca pebbles with really good success. It's clay that is similar to lava rock. I bought mine on Amazon but I've seen it locally. You keep a little water at the bottom of the pot and the water makes it way up to the roots via surface tension on the rocks.
