Shiners Car Wash SO the Mrs. just called me. She went to Shiners to get a basic car wash, and they pushed an upgrade. OK, they all do that these days (=grumble=) and she decided to take it, paying $20+ for the wash. She noticed that the person with the hose at the entrance gave the driver's side of her car a little spritz, but nothing on the passenger side. After coming out, she got out to check the wash before leaving the property to see how it came out, and found her vehicle was still partially dirty on the passenger side. So, she went in to complain, to be told the brush on the passenger side of the line isn't working correctly right now. Huh? She told my Mrs. the repair was on order. OK, understood -- stuff breaks. OTOH, they're still not only selling full price washes but pushing upgrades when the system isn't even working properly? What's wrong with this picture? They did offer to let her go through again and that time gave it a full pre-rinse. She said it came out OK that time, but still not what she'd have expected after paying for an upgrade. No offense, Shiner's. I know that with only one lane, you can't afford to shut down while waiting on a repair... but charging full price and selling upgrades for a crowbarred wash without even trying to compensate for the problem isn't cool.

I would not accept anything less than a spotless car OR a partial refund. If they have to run the vehicle thru 5 times and hand wash the missed spots to catch what the machine missed. I wouldn't accept that pitiful excuse for an answer, and would stay there until it was right. It has less to do with being a woman, and more to do with being assertive and insisting on proper customer service., regardless of gender. This would be one of those "OH HELL NO" situations that
Ruger5 teases me about.

I use shiners on occasion and have always wondered why they only spritz a little on the drivers side, maybe a bit on the windshield and rear window. Not sure it actually does any good. Going into last summer (May) they pushed a promotion - $10.00 unlimited premium washes for June, July and August.
I took the bait. June they charged $10.00.
I didn't check immediately but for July and August they charged $30 something.
I went to them and they said they couldn't do anything about it since it was past the month (this was in September).
I was pretty PO'd.
I still go through on occasion but will never do the upgrade or special again.

I've stopped using them as they no longer spritz the entire front and no longer do the rear. Also seems as if the conveyor belt moves more rapidly.
PlaneCrazy and Kittle reacted HEB carwash scratched the **** out of my then-new car in 2022. The guy who went through before me left his fishing tackle on the roof, which then get caught up in the rollers and really messed up my paint job. HEB did pay me for the damage, but I haven't used an unmanned carwash since!
Pirates Cove half price works for us. We used Shiners once when they first opened and have not been back. Enough said.
I am heading to Pirates Cove
right now. There are coupons for almost every day. You can find them in the mailer, back of grocery store receipts and online. Never had a big issue with them. All I know it looks better leaving than it did when I arrived.

I got a gift card from my son in law for Pirates cove for Christmas. They are pricey but do a fantastic job! I always say after I get a good, thorough clean up : "I'm gonna be better about staying on top of this!" LOL~!
