DH threatened with physical harm by teenagers on Greenbelt. My husband wasn't feeling well today and went on a walk on the Greenbelt by Woodland Hills and Kingwood Middle School. There were two kids-- he thinks late middle school, early high school-- on a motorized scooter and a motorized bike. The first time they came by, he ignored them, but the second time they came by, he took a picture of them just cause he gets irritated by people not following the greenbelt rules. Long story short, the kids got super aggressive with him and told him that if he didn't delete it, they would beat the f out of him. They rode away and then came back to threaten to beat him up some more. It shook him up. I'm tempted to post the picture, but I decided not to for the moment. I just thought I'd post it because I think people should know about it.

eighteen : Funnily enough... They threatened him with that too. They said they'll call the cops and say he was a pervert. But that's so messed up because they knew it was about the motorized bikes from jump.

Superfantastik : I also take your approach - no sense trying to tell everyone else what to do. It's not my job to try and control other's kids, and you can damn sure bet I'm not pulling out my phone to take video of them, especially for riding scooters.

AnnieOakley : you can certainly take it to the police department because that is intimidation and threatening bodily harm. They really have their nerve.
AnnieOakley : There is no expectation of privacy on a public greenbelt, and I am glad he did take the photo, especially re the way these kids reacted to your DH. If they accost him again, there is no reason not to call the non emergency number, and report the incident. This Isn't "boys will be boys" behavior, this is threat of bodily harm. These kids need to be taught some serious 'don't do' boundaries, asap.
sweetie : LittleTexas : Oh, no, we went to the police substation over by Wendy's. We filled a report. I forget exactly what the charges were. He has the paperwork, but I think it was assault and threats of bodily violence.
AnnieOakley : Just one more good reason to carry bear spray. If someone crosses that physical line, it's on.
