Texas whiskey at specs. All kinds of trinkets at Walmart. The ace hardware has beautiful Texas gifts. Wild birds unlimited does too. Would depend on the person and their interests. I do t want "dust catchers" or magnets. A fun tshirt or something useful 😀 would be my preference

Walmart has a section of nice Texas items; they are usually near the checkouts, you might have to ask. WM also has Texas shirts, and a section of Texas team gear, like Texans, Rockets, and University of Houston. You can go to HEB and get Lots of cool Texas items: Christmas ornaments, throws, candles, Texas shaped crackers. Texas blend coffees ( I love the HEB San Antonio Blend!), and the small cookie tins that are decorated with Texas icons and hold some great little butter cookies ( over in the cookie section). To surprise them, bring some of the HEB version of Oreos, called "Twisters"; they beat Oreos in so many ways!.

I think logically, if a person lived anywhere, they would know where to go find souvenir items let alone what kinds of souvenirs to give.

Hot sauce, bbq rub and Texas armadillo. Heck, those work all together.

The store across from Chachi's use to carry KW ornaments and dish towels but not sure if they still do.
Maybe the Hallmark stores might carry something too.
