Astrodome, revisited - AGAIN

Many millions go into keeping it air conditioned, and barely standing, yet unused, every year. It is a very beloved and memorable crumbling money pit.

Yikes! What a disaster. I have fond memories about the Astrodome, but what are we doing??? It's like the Houston officials over the years really believed it was the "8th Wonder of the World." lol.55 million to tear it down sounds better than 750 million to fix it and then never actually use it for anything. Because you know that's exactly what would happen.

It sounds cold, but if they tear it down, then use the place for multi-level parking for NRG park, it would be a continuous money source and solve the parking issues during rodeo and other events.

Tear the damn thing down already. I cannot believe we are talking about spending near a billion dollars on that thing. I have great memories of the place too. Other than than fact it was air conditioned it was a terrible baseball stadium. It was a terrible football stadium. The other good thing…. The comfortable seats are still around and for the most part in the hands of folks who appreciate them. If they can tear down the house Ruth built they can tear down a mediocre eyesore in the middle of the hood.

donnatella : And yet other historic buildings in Houston get approval to get knocked down. The Shamrock Hotel is a good example.

It needs to be gone. Even Texas Stadium in Irving was demolished.

donnatella : It was fun while it lasted but I for one have no interest in drawing people here from all over the state and beyond. If I could put a border wall over Kingwood believe me I would. 😁
