You can't possibly expect strangers to help someone who won't gainfully help themselves. Clearly there's a disconnect somewhere but you sound otherwise fully capable of doing better. Not judging but spending $10 on fast food can get you a couple of cans of soup and veggies, tuna, etc. they'll last longer. Best wishes.

Kaylagirl : good point. I think the idea was choose something to last a few days, rather than a one stomach fill.

A loaf of bread and a jar of peanut butter would last for several meals, not require cooking, and be more nutritious than one $10 fast food meal.

But how do you prepare food out in the streets?

Babieborris : Exactly!! Who wants cold tuna and cold vegetables in this cold weather? Or a cold sandwich? I would want hot food.

Babieborris : Warm is preferred but after dinner tonight, what about tomorrow. $10 spent on groceries, grabbing plastic utensils just about anywhere, could provide several non-cooking meals, just in case there's no money for fast food tomorrow. Going to a shelter has been suggested many times but refused. At some point personal preferences need to take a backseat to basic safety and shelter needs.
