HOUSTON - The Houston area has lost a broadcast news legend. Dave Ward, the longtime anchor at KTRK, Channel 13, has died at the age of 86, the station announced Saturday.
Ward was on the air for more than 50 years in Houston, delivering the news to generations of Houstonians.
According to his online bio, Ward was born in Dallas on May 6, 1939, and grew up in Huntsville, where his father was a pastor. David got interested in media while a student at Tyler Junior College. Kittle : Several years ago when we lived in side the loop. I was at Goode Company Taqueria on Kirby. Dave Ward was there. They got our meals switched. He was very gracious and we both laughed about it. We got the food figured out. He had just got off work and of course had a suit on but, a real nice pair of cowboy boots.
