Facebook marketplace Who sells items on FB marketplace? I know you do 
ZMAN - Any bad/weird experiences? This may have been nothing but it's made me nervous as hell to sell anything on there now. I recently listed a ladied Rolex watch on FB marketplace. (I need the Christmas funds & I don't wear it anymore) Everyone I know suggested using FB marketplace because the fees on Ebay are absolutely ridiculous now! Since listing, I've received so many ridiculous messages. Most of them are from people offering me half (or less) of the listing price. 🙄 That's a while nother rant, lol. Anyway, I had someone reach out a couple days ago, and they were interested in buying the watch. We talked back and forth a bit and I answered some questions that he had. When he asked about meeting up this weekend, I asked if he could come to Kingwood, and he said yes. I then told him that I only do sales & purchases in the lobby of the Kingwood Police Station and that my husband and I could meet him there whenever he'd like. I also gave him the option of meeting at a jeweler (his choice or my jewler) so he could guarantee the authenticity of the watch. I made it clear that I DO NOT meet up in public, at my home, or at theirs. It was at that point that he BLOCKED me. Yikes. That kinda freaks me the hell out. It's not like he blocked me because he didn't like the price we agreed on. He did it because he didn't like the pick-up options....which is shady as hell to me. I've seen SO many stories on the news about people getting robbed at gun point while selling or buying stuff they've bought online. Because of that, I'm really cautious about where I meet up. In the past, I've used other local selling platforms, but I've never used Facebook. Now I'm not so sure I want to. 😳 I guess the point of all this is: Be careful if you're selling items online. Make sure you meet up at a safe place - like the police station. Our station has a designated parking spot and area inside the lobby that you can use for this exact reason. In fact, they encourage you to do so, especially if you're a woman and by yourself. Hell, they'll walk you back to your car afterwards! I just make sure I go straight to the bank with zero stops. Its the holidays, but unfortunately - people suck - so be careful out there! 💚

StormChaser : That was so smart for you to do that. Of course he wanted to meet you somewhere where the cops weren't. Just be so careful.
StormChaser : I've never sold big ticket items on the marketplace. Things $50 or less and usually have the come to the KDC office. never had any issues. I do feel higher priced items would attract scammers. Using a paid platform would attract buyers that are invested, meaning more qualified buyers who understand the value of what you are selling.
luannski : I was going to offer the same advice. Go to Jewelers Bench, they will recommend a reputable place to go to sell your watch!
StormChaser : It may not have anything to do with you but he's wanted for a crime and doesn't want to get on camera at or near police.
StormChaser : You were wise to set safe locations. Thankfully the "buyer" showed his true intentions before something really bad happened.
StormChaser : I know a guy who would buy this bc he buys from us all the time with jewelry at estate sales. I trust him 100%. He also buys from other reputable estate sales in kingwood. Depending on on the price.
StormChaser : Definitely sounds like the individual had some possible nefarious intentions. Better be safe than sorry. I think you dodged the bullet on this one.
Scammmers are in high gear right now. Is your watch posted on the classifieds here? I want to see it.
