It's heartbreaking to watch the world mistreat someone you love. My wife lives every single day with multiple disabilities - including legal blindness and several medical challenges - yet she faces each day with more courage, strength, and grace than most people I've ever met. And still, it's unbelievable how often she's met with discrimination, verbal abuse, and unfair treatment, not just from strangers, but from people and places that should know better. People who are supposed to protect, serve, and support those living with disabilities far too often turn a blind eye, show no compassion, or even retaliate when you speak up for what's right. We've faced things no one should have to face - constant stress, threats, and humiliation - simply for asking to be treated with basic respect and dignity. Watching her go through that, while continuing to smile and persevere, breaks my heart but also reminds me how powerful faith and resilience truly are. No one deserves to feel unsafe or unwelcome in their own home. And no one should have to fight this hard just to be treated like a human being. Bmdawson I would appreciate some specifics because I make it a point to avoid businesses or places that are unkind or rude to anyone much less a disabled person.
Bmdawson : I am so sorry that your wife and you are dealing with people who are clueless and missing empathy. Unfortunately, many have no filter on their mouths. Please do not give them a second of your time. There are many good people out there! Your wife is lucky to have some one like you to have her back.
Bmdawson : People are so weird. A person can look more normal than they actually are. The comments can be really crazy.
