I remember going many times as a kid for either free or very low cost....Zoo was supported by local business donations then.....Now they are one of the so called "non-profit" cash cows....Shame....Many "non-profits" like that now....The country seriously needs "non-profit" reforms....

EddyFree : I was actually glad when they started charging... The zoo when free was SO freaking crowded. It is still reasonable IMO.

GoldenGirl :I never experienced over-crowding at the Zoo when it was free, much lighter population back then...They don't have to "charge" to keep crowds low....Just limit the amount of tickets/entries per day.....Last time I "tried" to visit the Zoo, and this was a couple years before the "Covid Pandemic", I couldn't find a parking space...I circled and circled and finally gave up....We ended up cruising the old "hood" in inner-city Houston that I grew up in just to see how things had changed....At least the trip wasn't a total waste.....

We went yesterday. Can't wait to go during the weekend.
