Where's the cleanest beaches near Houston? Even if we have to drive 2-3 hours away, where are the best beaches?
SpaceCat : Clean in what way? Bacteria? Beach debris / trash? We're too close to the Mississippi delta to have any nice beach sand in Texas. The water is generally more clear from Port Aransas south.

SpaceCat : South of Freeport TX or East of Mobile Bay AL if you can fly, but the eerieness of Indianola TX can paint a little ditty on the human condition.

SpaceCat : We go to Crystal Beach a few time a year. The beach is always clean and I check the bacteria levels to make sure they are good. I think you need to do that anytime you go to the beach wherever you are going. The last time we were at Crystal Beach the water was extremely clear and we could see our feet in water that was up to our waits. It is not always that way! If it were closer I would go to Corpus Christi and go to South Padre Island or the National Sea Shore.
SpaceCat : Corpus Christi and Padre Island. If you don't mind traveling a bit further, South Padre Island is beautiful and our family loves going there.
