I heard the Kingwood YMCA was not encouraging to seniors looking to enroll in fitness programs. I want to let those of you who might also be interested, that I contacted them this week about a enrolling in one of their fitness programs, the person I talked with was so nice, enrolled me, and sent a class schedule. I found it will cost me nothing thru a Silvers Sneakers Program covered by my insurance. Can't wait to get started; I am thinking of a muscle strength improvement program, and would like senior water exercise if it was not at 8:30am. I am not an early morning person. Any of you tried this, and what was your favorite exercise group?

I wish my insurance had the Silver Sneakers program. I'd be at the Y every day.
Do you really even like going to the gym? I dont.
Texasdaughter : That's a story you tell yourself. To be an early morning person all you have to do is wake up early. its pretty simple.
We enjoyed YMCA for awhile, BUT....my fault, I ALWAYS need to see some immediate results...ie, I move my arms, while raking leaves......I bend and pickup....nature s debris................I climb trees to lop off dead branches........................sorry... at end of the day...yeah...what are the results? LOL
Texasdaughter and RaggedyAnn reacted Strength training is very very very important esp for seniors.
The Y in Kingwood is a class act- I never taught there ( though I was asked to) but I did have a membership there so I could work out in peace( no one knew me there).
Enjoy those classes and I think you will really enjoy the morning classes- you will feel so good for the rest of the day!!
I go to the Y on Silver Sneakers 5 times a week in the early afternoon. You can swim anytime outside of classes, just show up with a towel. The whole crew is friendly and helpful. Usually not that busy on week days. There are all ages and for senior stuff ask for Ginger.
