Spork There are homeless people around for sure. They mostly stay to themselves and I have not felt unsafe with my two kiddos. I've seen more of them, and felt more in danger, walking from the parking lot to Daikin Park.

TXLobo : Decades ago Portland was wonderful. Snow skiing at Mt. Hood in the winter was a treat.

The last time i visited Portland, there was a conference I had a role in where former mayor Annise Parker was another speaker touting Houston as a model program for addressing the homeless problem. It was tempting to ask her more questions about how her solution was such a contrast to what my first hand experience was. But I played nice and pretended to be a good boy.

TXLobo : Let's ban homelessness by guaranteeing a right to adequate affordable housing and creating jobs with salaries that allow paying the cost of that housing. We are the richest country in the country in the world.
Reporting from the frontlines in downtown Portland. My son and I took an early morning stroll and grabbed some amazing coffee. It's a crisp 57° and cloudy. Pray for us 🙏

when I was there the beatniks were all at Reed College, and the drunken bums were in a 2-3 block area on Burnside. It was a nice town then. Tourists came to see the rose gardens and the city zoo. And to buy cheap cigarettes as there was no state tax on them.
