Dropped my kid off at school and on my way back ran into 2 coyot

Poor cat! When I first looked at your pics I thought it was deer, but now I see the coyotes! Getting brave aren't they!

They, along with their food sources, are being/have been pushed out of their habitat....just take a look at all of the clear cutting/development on Sorters near the college. Their pups are growing and being taught to hunt. Any loose animals are definitely prey. Our neighborhood's feral cat population has been basically wiped out. Animals let out in yards alone can also become prey...especially at dusk/night. While a fenced yard can keep your pet in, it likely won't keep a coyote out. People need to watch their pets. Several neighbors have had their "outside" cats disappear too.

sheltielover : Katy area has same. Tons of new construction west of 99. You can hear them at night calling to each other, especially when after their prey are amazing to hear.

Unfortunately that's nature! I just pictured a huge band of feral cats coming together for protection and prowling the night! 🤣

kumquat24 I've seen this happen as well. An image I will never forget. We worry about hawks and owls as well. My poor chihuahua doesn't understand why I follow her around the yard while she does her biz. I get the side eyes.

The coyotes we have here are smaller than TX but they are literally everywhere. I always carry a hiking stick with me esp if I walk before sunrise. I don't know why people let their pets run loose- just prime pickings for a pack of coyotes.

Those are probably the same two that were spotted crossing a street in South Woodland Hills a while back! There was a post and pictures too.

Govchance : You can hear them at night when on the hunt. Ones in Katy I have heard.

SummerSneeze : I've been saying it here for at least ten years - you can't leave cats outside, or small dogs off leash in greenbelts. The coyotes are here, have been here, and will be here, and are opportunistic hunters (but mostly just eat garbage left out by people).

Yep we hear them here too. We have 6-7 foot cinder block walls here in the subdivisions and those coyotes can jump them with ease. I've not seen them in my yard but I see them all the time in the washes and along the trails and sidewalks
