Osteoporosis. If you have osteoporosis, what are you doing to stop the progression other than prescription drugs? Increasing calcium and protein intake is recommended. Does anyone have experience with in home Vibration Plates or OsteoStrong in the Woodlands?

Two of the calcium + vitamin D chewables every day, and drink milk with dinner.

Thank you. Calcium, Vitamin D, and Vitamin K are highly recommended. I just learned that protein drinks are very high in calcium as well with 600-700 mg of calcium and 30 grams of protein. They are a bit pricey but I plan to try the chocolate Fairlife protein drinks.
It's a tough decision. I don't tolerate drugs well and already deal with TMJ. Osteoporosis drugs can have a negative side effect on jaw bones. Scary.
We have a vibration plate and found it very helpful for draining lymphatic fluids that caused my ankles to swell. They are skinny again! I'm not sure of the benefits for osteoporosis.
I just saw an ad for a new drug that Supposedly BUILDS new bone. It's diff than the ones they have now that just slows bone loss down. I didn't catch the side effects but I'm sure they are there.
My doc recommends Prolia shots - one every six months. But my new insurance won't cover it, and it's pricey.

After much discussion with my endocrinologist and oncologist, I opted for an annual Reclast infusion. They are much more concerned with what could happen with my bones than any potential side effects - many of us "little old ladies" don't recover from serious breaks. The infusion was painless and took very little time. And I know it would be hard for me to be compliant with the directions for Fosomax.
Additionally, I take Tums after every meal and Vitamin D daily. I'm also working on limiting my caffeine consumption.
I need to work on some strength training as well.
Fingers crossed that I can at least stop the bone loss...

Most injuries in older people aren't from osteoporosis, theyre from lack of balance, loss of core strength and muscle weakness. Walking and exercise will do wonders to prevent injuries when you have osteoporosis.
I have osteopenia. I take calcium and vitamin D. Each of my last three bone density scans have been better than the before.
