MOTHER ARRESTED FOR CHILD ENDANGERMENT AFTER LEAVING 9-YEAR-OLD ALONE IN PARKING LOT FOR HOURS!
On July 26, 2025, deputies with Constable Mark Herman’s Office responded to a welfare check in the 3800 block of Atascocita Road (Cricket Wireless parking lot) in the Trails of the Lakes subdivision.
Concerned employees reported that a young child had been wandering the parking lot alone for several hours. Deputies arrived on scene and located a 9-year-old boy, who stated he had been waiting for his mother to return for at least two hours. Witness statements and video surveillance confirmed the child had been left unattended for even longer.
Deputies contacted the child’s mother, identified as Markeisha Cartwright, who repeatedly delayed her return despite being informed of the situation. Once Cartwright returned to the location, she was taken into custody.
The child was evaluated by EMS and released to his father in good health. Child Protective Services was notified and briefed on the incident.

Poor kid. I dont know the whole situation here, but In the 80s when I was growing up, it was normal for me to be gone for 2-6 hours hours a day on my bike by myself when I was 9. My mom was never arrested for it.
ZMAN : Right, it's concerning nowadays, because it has become a sight of oddity to see a child doing something that was done in the 80s.

Poor kid. So she just dropped him off in a random parking lot while she did her thing? My boys rode their bikes all over the place at that age. They would ride up to what was then Holiday Foods with their friends and hang out at the neighborhood pool with their friends for hours. But they weren't abandoned and wondering where I was.
