I had that done about a year or two ago. Super easy. We moved rooms and all the guy did was run a new line from outside across our attic. Left the old one hot so now I have two lines. Took the guy about 15 minutes and he left everything clean.

I have the modem connected to the router and then back into my computer. There are two other nodes then in the network. Is the extra spot just that, extra? Or can it be used to wire another computer to one of the other nodes and have two computers "hard wired"? There would have to be another modem at the second one too, correct?

So back to the question, I might be answering the question is that it is just extra.

You don't need another modem for each node. If your nodes (like mesh WiFi units) have Ethernet ports, you can plug another computer into one of those ports and it will be "hard wired" to your network-no extra modem needed. The extra spot is there for just this kind of use! So go ahead and plug in that second computer; your turtles will approve of the extra speed.
