Things to do around here

Get him involved. HPD is having a gig at Texas Roadhouse Wednesday evening (Humble) between 5-9. Looking for volunteers for Special Olympics. Time to give back to your community.

How about a job? HEB hires kids as sacking help, etc, at about 14 or 15, I think? There are other kids there, and he can save his money for college!

There are lots around here. Main event, there are 2 voard game places, the Atascocita library does tons of stuff. School of rock, trails and bike paths, pools and library, Barnes and Noble has tons of things.

Many of you, like me, would Never have told our parents we were bored. I would have found myself with More chores than I already had! I would have been washing all cars, bathing dogs, polishing silver, cleaning windows, etc, etc , etc! Honestly, maybe add a few more chores to your child's list of those they do now. At that age, my boys learned how to cook more ( eggs, muffin mixes, lasagna; nothing gourmet, but good food that will keep the fed, without breaking the budget). Also taught them to iron, and sew on a button. The more you Prepare your child for when they will live on their own, the easier that life, will be. Btw, both of their wonderful wives were Very impressed they could do all these things, and they Cooked for these girls, early on..Big Boyfriend Points!!

Nah, I grew up w my grandmother teaching me those things at an early age. As a teen we lived outside w animals. People suck haha. I was country girl, cows, horses and dogs were my friends.
My parents owned a general store, when i was a teen, if I was home I had to work, so I stayed outside if possible. But i did have lots of chores still. I sticked soda coolers every night for the next day and I ironed all my dad's jeans every week. I REFUSE TO IRON anything now 😀

LittleTexas : Kids 1 and 2 already have jobs. #3 is only 12.And you're evading the question. Why nothing more to do around here that I FUN when they're not working.

Txbutterfly : Thank you for answering my question. My kids do have chores. But that can't be their whole summer and they're burned out with the pools and their bikes. It's too dang hot.My one kid is outside shooting hoops right now. Hot hot hot.Main Event is so dang expensive. 😫 I'll look into B&N - thanks!parents need to work around their job schedules, though. Makes it tricky.

There are cars to wash, lawns to mow, dogs to bathe...

Chores were a part of growing up; it taught us how to survive on our own. We had fun time however growing up in the country was far better and freer than city life. Outdoors as much as possible.

Growing up outdoors is the Best; I grew up the same. On my horse, often bareback, a majority of the time. With three older brothers, I was a total tomboy, and loved every minute of it.
