Spaying the dog.I have 8 yo dachshund and her heat days should be somewhere in August. We have another male unneutered. They will not fit to each other because of huge size difference, but to be together is very stressful for both of them. So usually, when this happened to our female my wife rent some house for 7-10 days like in Galveston or somewhere else where we can afford at certain time of years and we parted our pets. This time my wife has own health issues which she is solving overseas and she might not return till heat starts. So, I have to do this procedure by myself being working full time. Questions are, if someone will be able give some guidance:1. I have heard about less invasive and less damaging spaying procedure, although more expensive to do it than commonly used everywhere. I heard not every veterinarian can do it. Any advice about cost, recovery and availability of that way to do it? 2. If common procedure will be use, how she will recover? Should I take days of to babysit her? Should I better leave her in veterinary clinic for few days to eliminate my stress? 3. We our regular vet clinic which is about 40 minutes drive from our house. We better use them, then someone in Kingwood area? 4. If I will not manage to arrange spaying is it possible to found someone in the area who can be paid to host small dog for critical period of her life? She is very insecure dog, afraid other dogs and I am trying to avoid commercial dog services. I appreciate any advice.
