Where are the cold war bunkers in these parts? Now that old KMS

My university had a few buildings that had bunkers. Signs still up in the 2000s.

I remember the sixties and fallout shelters. We had basements there in Atlanta -- better than nothing. I guess we could have basements here, too, but we would soon be calling them indoor swimming pools . . .

There's a nice subterranean data center not far from here that's well air conditioned and has some sub sub basements. 😆

eighteen : they actually showed those films from the 50's of the crawling under the desks to us in the 70's during elementary school film sessions. Very similar to Reefer Madness...

I said the sixties and fallout shelters, but now that I think more about it, that was in the fifties. There was a trial evacuation of Atlanta's school children. School buses were to rush to schools, load up all the children in an orderly fashion, and get them away from the city. I believe now if that really happened, many school bus drivers would load up their own families and get away from the city. We did under-the-school-desks drills and that was interesting the first time, but fortunately no real life need appeared for that, either.

Here's me: get a magnum of the best champagne- climb onto my roof (or maybe float in my pool) or maybe hike to my spot and watch it all go down. I'm old and wouldn't survive or maybe I don't want to survive to struggle through nuclear winter so might as well go out vibing 🤣

I'm right there with you. Well, except for the champagne. 🫤
