Something to beware this summer

And these two are literally in the MIDDLE of High Valley. Not in a line on the side of the road. THE MIDDLE. Yesterday coming home at 6:00 pm there were a group of about 5 middle schoolers riding motorized scooters, taking up the entire road opposite me. These kids are going to be sharing the road with teenage high school boys all summer and we all know how they drive. Way too few wear helmets which really surprises me. These scooters can reach 20 mph and higher. There's been a large uptick in these little vehicles of late. There really is no safe place for them to ride and this is terrifying…..I just pray that we see less of them weaving in and out of traffic at the H-E-B shopping center. This is an accident waiting to happen. It really is

Butler never let our kids have any motorized things until they had drivers license. He said they needed to use their bodies. But kids on bike do seem like they are aware of the cars.

Donnawisdom : I was just thinking yesterday that kids already don't get enough exercise, but these are very popular and are only going to increase in numbers. So very dangerous, SMH

Butler hates kids on these types of things. As close to a rant as he ever comes.

Donnawisdom : I'm with Butler. Dangerous to have 9-12 year olds sharing the roadways with killing machines on vehicles themselves capable of reaching 20 mph. With or without helmets this is a public safety issue that I fear will only be addressed after several littles lose their lives. Those two little girls crossing HEB literally rode that vehicle to HEB (where they had to weave through traffic) to shop. My gawd. And those little guys on High Valley……not once looked back as the kid on the bike scooter changed lanes. Dh was driving, I was snapping pics. I swear I might stop by the police station to see if a public safety class could be started at the schools. Yall watch - there will be dozens of these on the roadways all summer. Every kid wants one. I get it - they're fun as hell but ……..dangerous as hell. 🙏

Where are the parents? Kids only see the fun, not the danger. Perhaps parenting classes are needed.

I would feel a little better if they were at least wearing helmets, and I agree that this is very dangerous. I hope everyone will be on the lookout because they will be everywhere now that school is letting out.

Ruger5: I went by ACE on my way home from work and saw those 2 there. They were talking about going to HEB. Afterwards I saw three girls riding on a single scooter going down Tree Lane. Just to said to myself, that was an accident waiting to happen. Of course we have the one running around here on his motorbike late in the evening/night. No helmet, dark motorbike with no light/s of course. Careful out there folks!
