Usagitsukino87 : I would take pictures, clean the vents with bleach, take another picture of them clean and see if the mold comes back. Maybe they need to change the filters.

Thank you. I'm sick right now and allergic to mold so I used some Lysol and cleaned as much as I could but when I was trying to clean it appears there are layers of paint chipping off like they just slapped paint over previous mold and the entire vent is black. I'm reaching out to everyone I can because we pay over 2 grand for rent every month and this is ridiculous 😢

The air coming out of the vent is real cold and causing condensation.

Take videos and photos, and get in touch with Grizzy's Hood News, on their FB page. Go to your apartment manager, and show them the videos and photos. Write or print a letter that the manager needs to sign, that shows:
date and time you brought this to their attention
that you tried to clean, and found the layers of peeling paint
your symptoms and problems re this.
If they do not get back to within 3 days, write an email and reference that signed letter you have, of 'discovery' ( informing them of the problem),and you will be contacting a consumer health group, to get something done to remedy this.
Also, send pics of that letter the manager signs, photos, and All info you have directly TO the property owner/group. Explain to them that you will be taking this further, with no hesitation.
Sorry this is happening to you all, but you have keep making calls and sending emails, so they know you are Serious about pursuing a remedy to the problem.

Our ac is blowing hot and I think that's what caused the mold to build like my last apartment it started because we had AC issues they wouldn't fix and these apartments had mold from 2017-2019 I'm finding out 😣

Thank you so much and this is very helpful and I will reach out to them. When I was looking for houses to rent after the first moldy home, every house we went into was musty and smelled like mildew. We got hit hard with Harvey and these last storms and I think the housing here is ruined if it flooded. I don't want to even live here anymore and I've been here 10 years. Enough is enough. 😞

Yep I've changed my air filters about a week ago and do it every month

LittleTexas : I agree! Put everything in writing, send email with date and time stamp proof. Go onto their portal and send written request for maintenance if you haven't already. That looks like it's blowing out of the vents, maybe your neighbor above maybe has a leak…Who knows but schedule maintenance that your unit is contaminated and you are concerned with your health living in these conditions. Depending on their response and actions you should consider requesting that they transfer you to another unit/building, etc. because that's not acceptable for you to be tied into a contract under your contract if they don't. Also, relocation/ expenses are not cheap for something you had no knowledge of before signing the lease and that's the least they can do considering you've only been there. One more thing, it can cause health issues breathing mold/mildew in. The issue needs to be resolved or I would go the top of office management (company that is on the copy of your contract) to file a formal complaint and always cc: yourself so you have record of everything in writing or written proof you addressed/ requested maintenance to be completed and cover yourself in writing for proof. CYA. Just out of curiosity and I'm not doing anything right now but it's it just one room?

If the manager doesn't do anything, reach out to the corporate office. No way, would I continue l live there like that. They need to switch you into another unit immediately.
