I planted it in full sun so it can have more blooms....and yes it will grow where the old Texas Water Oak grew for decades but fell down during Beyrl.

Looks like Turks caps. They will bloom but really blooms in sept-oct. Red is the standard color but I found some in pink. Texas A&M came up with a pink color.
