If you are over 55, you can join Lone Star College's ALL program. I haven't looked at the fall schedule yet, but they usually have Bird Watching classes where you could meet interested people.

The first Saturday of the month, Jessie Jones has a bird walk. We just missed it on July 5th. I slept in unfortunately, but I did go in June. It was a three mile walk and lasted about 2 1/2 hours with stops. It was really interesting but very hot.

TheStig started one a couple years back, but it got derailed I think because it was around peak covid time.
