FEMA says Ryko's property just on the other side of 59 could go under 7 to 25 feet of water in another .2%-annual-chance storm. Here's a better idea than building 7,000 homes there.

So if Montgomery County says it is unsafe, how do they even get permits to build. In a better world, they would just be told no.

@SetecAstronomy :
They want to make money and don't care. The county/State is who shouldn't allow it

It lists who signed off on the permits if you look around a bit on there as well.

Wow. 25 feet of water! Houses would be structurally damaged not just water damaged. What company would provide insurance for those homeowners? What mortgage company would lend to someone who would likely default due to flood?

No idea, but they should care if homes are being built that will flood, as tax payer dollars will need to be used for the aftermath.

Hopefully people will do their research on that area and not buy the homes there. Then they would have to stop building because no one wants to buy a house that's eventually going to flood. Plus their insurance is going to be really high.
