Not sure about SW Trails, but my HOA did require one...mostly it's to make sure it's not hot pink, or a weird hay thatched roof or something... ; ) I'm hopefully getting a roof something this week.

Yes, to avoid future hassles, fill out the form; it's a simple procedure. You do not want to spend money on a new roof that does not meet current guidelines then have to change it. Lawsuits and liens can be filed against your property that have to be cleared when or if you sell.

Yes- the company you chose to do it - should pull the permit from both city and HOA- at least mine did

HOAs do not forgive, they enforce guidelines and that can be costly. There is a reason people buy homes in a restricted community.

billcherie2 : Which company manages your HOA? They will be able to answer. Also, if the roofer is local (ie, Wesco) they will know as well.

Good for you!!! All of Kingwood has deed restrictions for a reason. It isn't a difficult process to apply for approval. Not adhering to deed restrictions can be costly.

billcherie2 : Yes you have to submit Name of company hired, Brand and color of shingles to have approved.

I'm sure that the Company you use for the roof will clean up really well but roof nails and bits of shingle show up in the weirdest places...check your yard well before you let your pups out

ZMAN : When we moved here we'd never even heard of an HOA and our Realtor never mentioned it to us.

KW Association and you might find the form online. I always get approval with any big price repairs. Better be safe than sorry.

billcherie2 : Don't need a permit but we do need approval from KSA for a new roof in Sand Creek. Our roofer took care of that for us.
