Find Amayah a Home: 200 Days Too Long!
From Montgomery County Animal Shelter: This stunning girl - Amayah (A404511) has spent over 200 days at the shelter (we can't believe it either). Amayah is around 2 years old, 51lbs and possibly a German Shepherd mix. She recently went on an outing with a staff member, who wrote a really nice report on her day. Read all about it: "This past Monday, I decided to take Amayah out for the day! She could use some help getting in and out of the car, but she adjusted fine later on in the day. I don’t blame her she’s been in the shelter for over 200 days!!! She did amazing in the bath to my surprise. Amayah loved the feeling of the scrub brush. She was however a little scared of the blow dryer and moved a little too much for the towel dry. I took her to the Hermann park in downtown houston on the Marvin Taylor trail. She showed so much interest in people and all the animals we saw. She was very timid when it came to new people approaching her, but would relax after I told her it was okay. She was incredibly easy to walk and kept watch to make sure I was still following her. Afterwards, we went to Chick-fil-a for a pup cup! She loved that. Our next stop was Petco for some treats. She was able to ease her anxiety in the car after the long walk in the park and even enjoyed laying in my back seat. Maybe a little too much I might add because I had trouble getting her out of it at Petco! When I finally put a regular leash on her instead of the harness, she was able to easily get in and out of my car! After picking up some treats, I took her to a dog park near my home to make some doggy friends. While at a mini pit stop at my apartment, I introduced her to my cats who aren’t the most well behaved around dogs. Amayah showed little interest. When my cats hissed at her, she respected their space and walked away. I’d say she would do fine in a household with cats. Taking her back was the hardest part of my day. I absolutely love Amayah and wish I had the space for her to live with me. I know some wonderful family will love this little couch potato the way I love her. Please come by and meet her!" Regular adoption fee is $40. Adoption fee covers spay/neuter, vaccinations, and microchip. If YOU can help, please reach out! FOSTER INQUIRIES: Contact April

What a cute looking dog! I have two adopted cats which are a blessing for a lonely senior person. If only I knew I had the physical stamina to own a dog again I'd take her in a heartbeat! It's difficult to imagine how much better a furry friend can make a lonely person feel until you experience it.
