Hard freeze next week

Heads up that we could be in for an arctic blast next week - anytime from Jan 6th-12th.

Exact timing is still uncertain.

American and Euro models are showing lots of teens and even single digits in Texas.

These could go up.....or down.

This DOES NOT look like another 2021 Arctic freeze setup but teens in SE TX is still freaking COLD. 🥶🥶🥶

Time to start thinking about some "just in case" hard freeze preps.

Good morning! Thanks for guiding us thru storms and now freezes. Praying this won't be another pipe breaking event.

I figured I was going to have to water again (insulates plants) and bring the delicate plants inside. Consider keeping pets inside that are used to maybe roaming around a bit and prepare outside water lines. Check the antifreeze in your vehicles, esp if it parked outside and not in a garage.
I would love to say Centerpoint is better prepared for this but I think everyone is Kingwood knows better. I might redo the weather stripping to all my doors tomorrow now that I think about it. Thank you for the heads up! I'm wondering about the possibility of snow or freezing rain too e That would be a game changer.

Me neither. I want to sleep for about a week right now. My sleep schedule is so off with the time changes each day and then the day changes each week that I honestly wake up to anxiety attacks wondering if I set enough alarms and did I pack for work after about 2 hours.
Not sure what I was thinking with 2 graduations, a new puppy and work. Part of me was crazy. The other side me is still very Blessed to have all this in my life and have my little family close and safe. I'm starting my 31 day challenge with the Calm app reset your mind deal tomorrow. This is my 8th year of working where I do and it will take me a solid month to retrain my mind that it needs sleep and rest. I purchased myself a huge box of Lush bath stuff and a lot of history books to help me get there.
The cold, we knew that was coming. The tornados? What cha going to do? I pray. I was leaving the house when that was happening and there wasn't even a storm warning. Not even from work. That's sort of a problem down here with tornadoes. I probably saw Twister to much when I was younger. No one takes them serious here.

Idk. I remember this one though and that new elementary school was completely leveled. I went to that school before it was rebuilt. My dad drove us out there and only the foundation was left. Thank God it was not a school day.

Later there were bricks said to be found from that school over 20 miles away. Mind you that the Fujita scales have changed since then to the EF scales.

I saw a report that said depending on what the southern jet stream does (think that was the factor) it could pick up moisture during that time leading to a wintry mix as for folks as far south as the Gulf area. I think the timing for it was after the first arctic blast...late January. Hello 2025.

StormChaser : Thank you and I have been hearing about this. Ugh. If the power goes out, I will be camping by the fireplace.
