Tropics update 6/16 TROPICAL UPDATE: The area of low pressure has yet to form and models continue to be all over the place with how much rain we are actually going to get. One thing I can tell you is this. There are two MAIN models that forecasters use to determine an accurate forecast; the GFS and the EURO. When these two models start to agree with each other...things usually come together. Thats the photo below.
The EURO is forecasting 3.5" for Kingwood while the GFS is predicting 7.5" so we have to wait for the low to develop to really get a good idea on totals. Closer to the coast: Euro shows 9 inches for Galveston over the next 5 days and the GFS is predicting almost a foot of rain over the next 5 days. That's a lot of rain and if a situation sets up to where we receive any training bands of rain pushing on shore, flooding could be a real issue. Timing is Monday thru Wednesday PM. While this IS NOT a hurricane or tropical system (no high winds or any of that) it does not have to be to cause major issues when it comes flooding (Allison, Imelda) so I'm watching this closely. Like I said above, models are starting to come together but they're not there yet. They won't be until the low actually forms. (Later today/tomorrow at the latest) Above everything else, always be prepared for anything this time of year. I'll update later today.

**I should add that it could become a storm but landfall would be in Mexico or South Texas. The moisture is what's coming our way.

Thanks! I am hoping for nothing till at least Wed! Busy driving day Monday and tree trimmings Tuesday...ugh.
Thank you for keeping us updated. You always give us a more level-headed, realistic plan of what to expect here in Kingwood. We realize that the weather can be very different for Kingwood. Missed you and appreciate your intuition.
