Shooting in Humble. Teen shoots man man calls, parents parents come to help him and team shoots at their car. This is getting like the wild wild West over in Atascocita. And Humble. Kingwood is not too far behind. The victim is in critical condition. Cops are asking people to stay away from that area while they do their investigation.

sweetie : This definitely isn't Atascocita. Closer to Kingwood than Atascocita. It's waaaay past the mall off of Aldine Westfield and Treaschwig.

That location is west of 59 past the airport and north of 1960 closer to Spring/Aldine Westfield than central Humble. Nowhere near Atascocita.

If you've ever been to Joe V's down 1960, it's right before Joe V's off Aldine Westfield (take a right). The given location is maybe 5 minutes tops from Carter's Country shooting range in Spring, for anyone familiar.

Yeah, it's a fairly depressed lower income gang-infested area.

Heathur : Agreed. I once lived within a couple of miles of that area. That part of Spring was once nice but has been slowly going downhill over the years Emoticon

jwardl :
I lived in Spring as a kid until I was 9ish. Now Joe V's is a hot spot to lose your catalytic converter and that is not an over exaggeration, it's a quite literal statistic lol.

That whole area is a death zone. actually Harris county is a death zone. If you stay in Kingwood you will have a better chance then most areas. However only the beginning of the destruction of society. Many reasons for this. most know the reasons.

Texasdad : I agree with your first sentence. Out of curiosity, what makes you think Kingwood is different?

sweetie : Third world *******. When other countries warn their citizens to beware coming to the US this tells me we are being viewed as such by the world. The descent into below average has begun.

Texasdad : Historically, crime migrates away from urban centers into satellite expansion clusters.

The increased population density to the south of Humble/Kingwood (much of it illegals and economically depressed minorities) has nowhere to go but north.

It's already moved into Humble. And is quickly encroaching on Atascocita. Kingwood is obviously next.

As the suburban gentry migrates north to avoid the influx of crime and clutter, Kingwood will witness a huge increase in rental properties. Home values will crash accordingly.

Valley Ranch is already becoming the suburban "upscale" shopping/residential development that Kingwood once was.

The transition is gradual and inevitable. Timelines are hard to predict, but ten to twelve years for Kingwood to emulate Humble's not a stretch.

sweetie : I read this on the news this morning and it's off 1960 & Treshwig area closer to the toll road. Sad and unfortunate regardless.

Ruger5 : The reality about the whole "other countries giving their citizens travel warnings" has to do with gun violence. Every country has gang violence to some degree, but here in the Good Ole it's gun violence that is the difference.

And I'm a gun owner, with a pro-gun rights general view. But I don't stick my head in the sand and pretend our lack of personal responsibility doesn't largely affect the amount of gun violence we see here. Off the soapbox now...

Quixote : Much of that is true, but one thing that limits the riff-raff expansion is access to freeways. Kingwood is a bit isolated because of that (and Lake Houston to the east as well). I agree that Royal Shores will eventually trend toward Riff-Raff Shores, but it will take a bit longer than your estimate, in my opinion.

The other factor you are not taking into account is the size of many of the homes in Kingwood. They are not amenable to being rentals, for the most part.
