Flood insurance Ugh. I just got my renewal for my flood insurance policy. $727.00 😳 This house has never flooded, although we've come close in the last 5 years and were not in a flood plain. 2 years ago (maybe 3?), it was $410.00

StormChaser : It's not so much that the risk has changed, but the cost to repair/remodel homes has gone up significantly in the last few years. Basically, inflation for materials like sheetrock, insulation, flooring, etc.

buffaloglenn : Well, there's another reason… instead of judging risk by the flood plane map and all that, they now scrapped that for another method. They are lowering the rates of those who flood and increasing rates for those that didn't/don't flood. Many who have flooded saw rates drop…I'll see if I can find that info.

MissAmericanPie : That is crappy! You did not take the risk others did but you get to pay for their risk. It's just not right!
