@Smoothie : I have never had any issues with HEB either until now. It just seems a little odd that someone else had the same complaint this week, but maybe it is just due to them not being able to get product out to the stores as quickly as they did before. I am not swearing them off forever...I am a grocery store hopper; not loyal to any one .

Started buying all my produce at Kroger a month ago. Sucks making two trips but HEB produce is mostly garbage.

HEB-Yes, Again! I know someone already had a gripe about them this week, but now it's my turn. I bought all my produce on Sunday, and it is already gross. My cucumber is mush, my mixed greens are wilted...cherry tomatoes are bad. Very frustrating!

@amanda79 : i have no complaints, i love HEB. You have to learn how to pick and choose the right type of produce.
and buy what you need only.

Wilted greens does not mean they are bad..put them in a bowl with water and a little salt. They will perk right up. Ive heard but never tried that you can also do it with potatoes.

@amanda79 : Just out of curiosity, do you have any of these in your fridge?

Apples
Bananas
Melons
Pears
Peaches

All of these produce higher levels of Ethylene Gas which is a like a ripening agent and will also cause fruit/veg to get mushy. Keep those items away from other produce.

@PANDABAM : I think at 40 years old I know how to pick produce. As stated before, I have never had a problem with them, and I don't think 3 days after purchasing seems right for something to rot. I grocery shop for the work week....who has time to run in daily for a damn cucumber?

@platipus : Nope! I sure don't. The only reason I had cherry tomatoes in the fridge is because my little girl likes to eat them cold. I put mine in the fruit bowl.

Sounds like you need better produce picking skills.... If it looks a little old, don't buy.

@amanda79 : We have been having major issues with their cucumbers for about a month now. Three days tops and they have to be pitched. Same with tomatoes. Of course, we do curbside so we are at the mercy of whoever happens to pick out our produce on that day.

It is also annoying that they are attempting to dump their brands on us instead of the national brands. A few are pretty good but most are second rate. Every time we do curbside, it's more and more HEB brand stuff. I think they are taking advantage of a bad supply situation to increase their profits.

@Texasdad : I shop all over the place. HEB isn't typically my go to, but they have those rest ready made meals that are easy to pop in the oven. I am just disappointed, that's all.

@amanda79 : You have a right to be upset. I am always surprised how long I can keep stuff but I think I have my fridge turned down more than most. I buy asparagus when on sale and it last several weeks. I bought 3 pounds yesterday at Kroger, I keep tomatoes in the fridge because if out they go bad too quick for me. I haven't been to HEB since they had the lines with people so close.
The real grocery store problem will be keeping us supplied. I ran in WalMart yesterday and they had a lot of empty shelves. That's scary for WalMart.
