According to
this article in the Houston Business Journal, HEB is planning on building another 100,000+ sq ft store here next year inside a new development called Kingwood Place.
According to a
press release sent out by Stratus Properties, owners of the new development that will house the HEB, they should break ground this fall on what they're calling Kingwood Place.
"We purchased a 54-acre tract of land in Kingwood, Texas, on August 6 that we plan to develop as Kingwood Place. This mixed-use development project will include... HEB store and 41,000 square feet of retail space, six retail pads and an 11 acre parcel planned for a 300 unit multifamily community. The total projected investment for this project is approximately $50 million. We plan to break ground and initiate construction in November 2018, and HEB is scheduled to open its store in October 2019." ~ Stratus Properties
This news comes on the heels of HEB's plans to open a new store in Porter as well.
See That Original Article HERE!! The distance between their stores is now definitely getting smaller and smaller.
The location is supposedly being built on the southwest corner of Highway 59 (69) and Northpark Dr, catty-corner from the Kroger Marketplace, though H-E-B has not confirmed that as of yet. An excerpt from the article explains that, "a deed filed with the Montgomery County Clerk and records with the Montgomery County Appraisal District indicate the roughly 53.8-acre tract has been owned by Chevron entities since October 1995. The vacant land is at the southwest corner of Interstate 69/Highway 59 and Northpark Drive."
So, what do you think about H-E-B filling the gaps between their stores?
For those that live in the front of Kingwood, will this keep you from going to Kroger/Randalls? 4951
