>> She did not have a good experience to say the least
@taramay:
Well, that sucks! At least she got her results in the end.I don't see how any Dr. could screw mine up really. It's pretty much been the same since my 20's. Same procedures, diagnosis, treatments, etc.. The only thing that changes is which medicines I take. They don't like me to stay on Nexium too long at my age...It could cause major bone problems, so I cycle on and off of it. If it didn't work so good, I probably wouldn't use it at all. Â
@BBQguy: I used to have acid reflux fairly regularly. The doc put me on Protonix. I had been on it for about 20 years when I started hearing about the potential negative side effects. I tried stopping it, but the acid reflux rebounded even worse. So I got back on it. But I got a pill-cutter and went to 3/4 pill and stayed on that for about two months. Then went to 1/2 pill for two months, etc. until I was able to wean myself completely off. Since then, I find I only have a little reflux if I drink alcohol and eat something real spicy or greasy late at night. The acid reflux was why I had an endoscopy along with the colonoscopy my first time. My esophagus looked fine but he found a small spot in my stomach that was per-ulcerous. He removed a sample for testing. When tested, he found out that I had helicobacter pylori bacteria in large quantites. It's one of those bacteria that most people have but most never have any trouble with. I had been experiencing irritable bowel syndrome for several years before that.  He put me on a multi-pill regimen specifically for h pylori.  Since then, I have no problems with my bowels (except, you know, that one time I discussed in another thread)!
