I was cruising right through the day. I dropped off the little one at day care, hit the store for the wifey's double coupon deals, took some signs in to be redone, popped into the groomers next door for some puppy time and make an appointment for Brisket, came home and made myself a couple of kicka** sammies for lunch, headed out the door for a Sam's/Goody Goody trip and then everything came to screeching halt. My reminder went off on my phone, telling me I had my yearly appointment with the gastroenterologist next week. Emoticon   4951

Time for a colonoscopy?  The procedure is not too bad, but that "prep" is a killer! 4951

@Retired_Engineer: Yes, and also an endoscopy. Since I have to do both every year, they do them at the same time. And I agree 100% that the procedure is the least of my worries. I've been out like a light for every one of them. It's the day(s) leading up to and afterwards that I don't look forward to. It used to bother me sitting in the waiting room. I'm the only one under 60 there usually. EmoticonBut it's better than forming cancer, and it's a must to get updates on how my innards are doing for medication/eating purposes. EmoticonAs soon as I leave here in a few, I'll probably put it out of my mind. That's how I roll most of the time. Life's too short to whine about stuff. Emoticon  4951

@BBQguy:  Wishing you the best of luck!I did both the colonoscopy and endoscopy my first time.  He did a followup colonoscopy 2 years later.  Now I'm on a four (or five year schedule). My wife's father had colon cancer in his 80s so I made my wife schedule a colonoscopy.  Fortunately, she looks good so far.

@BBQguy:  My wife always anxiously awaits for me to expel all that air they pump into my colon.  I must admit, from a quantity perspective, it IS pretty impressive!

DH and I have been together for 9 years now. I've only ever fared in front of him a few times. And each of those times it wasn't on purpose. I think my own farts are funny...but it's been so long, that it seems pointless to start now.

My 1st colonoscopy should be interesting! LOL! Thankfully I still have several years before it's necessary. 4951

Could use the name of a good gastroenterologist, hubby's brother died in his 30's from colon cancer and he's overdue for a check. I have passed the recommended age and am dreading it, I may need to take a cab to preserve my flower like status with hubby.

Did have an endoscopy, I needed more drugs and was gagging. Felt like 15 minutes, was probably 15 seconds before they increased my drugs. 4951

@MarT: I actually switched this year to Dr. Sidiq at Kelsey-Seybold. He is at the main campus most of the time, but does come to the WLH Clinic on Wednesdays. I used to have Dr. Banker at Memorial Hermann, ever since moving here. He was good, but I wanted to use a K-S Gastro because all of our other doctors are through there. I'll let you know what I think of Dr. Sidiq after next week. He'll be my 3rd Gastro in 12 years, and they have all been gentle so far. Emoticon

I just scheduled my 2 nd colonoscopy.  The prep sucks but the procedure is nothing.   I will take a colonoscopy any day instead of a barium enema exam in which you are fully awake the whole time.  My 2 year old came with me to the appt to schedule the exam and she thought all the colon pictures were really cool.  She kept asking me to tell her the names of the organs, etc. and she loved to learn how food turns to poop.  I think she will be in the medical field one day!   4951

My wife and I use Dr Ned Snyder at Kelsey-Seybold.  He is terrific!  During my first colonoscopy, he removed several polyps for testing.  When he got the results from the lab, HE called me to let me know that they were not a problem.  Soon after my first colonoscopy, he was promoted to Head of the Gastrointestinal department.  My second colonoscopy showed no problems. 4951
