>> why is it some parents sit there and do nothing while their brats ruin everyone elses lunch?

and then they get mad at me when I ask them to shut their little hellion up

PedroDePacas:

Go cry me a river. They are paying customers just like you. Maybe eat at a fancy restaurant or shut your pie hole!

DVaz:

Sounds like my original post hit home. Do you have a problem controlling your little ones or do they control you? Maybe consider that it is rude to have your kids screaming and yelling while people are trying to have dinner.

And for the record, I eat at places both expensive and inexpensive. You cant put a price tag on manners and common courtesy.

PedroDePacas:

I don't have any kids, sorry to disappoint you.

DVaz:

So please explain to all of this why you feel it's okay to have little kids running around screaming and yelling. Why do you think we need to be the recipients of all that noise?

Don't like it, go elsewhere. I just don't let little stuff bother me anymore. Kids will be kids IMO. Running and yelling is what they do. Go to a restaurant for adults if you don't want the chance of loud kids. 4951

Therein lies the rub....there is no such place unsullied by the curtain crawler set.  Once went to Raffa's for dinner. we were finishing up about 8 and in comes a family with two kids under 5 to start dinner.  The kids were already cranky, one lying on the floor the other tossing stuff.  We bolted but I bet their mood did not improve as the evening progressed. 4951

But the problem with that is there is no such place. To delineate people due to age would be considered discrimination. And that is no longer acceptable nor is that legal. 4951

Maybe I just ignore it or block it out. Maybe Kingwood has too many spoiled brats... Do you address the parents or complain to staff? The business may be scared to lose customers, so do nothing about it. 4951

>> I brought this up years ago and all it did was bring in a bad mouthing from the parents on here. My issue is on airplanes. Why do they let those kids just scream? Especially on Long Long flights it would make me crazy and I would come home with a horrible headache.
luv2eatsushi: I was called a racist because the family was Hispanic; like it was my fault they weren't white or somethin'.Yes, I too have a problem with kids running around like little crazies...whatever color they might be. I especially don't like when I see toddlers thumping on glass doors trying to open them and head out  into parking lots.  Drives me up the wall worrying about those kids more than their parents.I tell myself, "Won't save that kid....no won't do it;  let the lil' bastard get killed.".....and then I will watch like a hawk to make sure nothing happens to the short, little dumba** of a human. What can you do....
David18: Dude. Mexicans very often do not make their kids behave. I was at the movies waiting in line to get in and these two Mexican kids were throwing each other around and screaming and acting loud me little heathens and they bumped into me over and over. Finally I turned around and asked if they wanted to borrow my belt and use it on them because they were acting like little animals. The parents went ballistic they called me racist and the dad told me he was gonna no to kick my ***. I told him to bring it on as I was sick of getting bumped into by kids who weren't made to behave. Then of course here comes a cop who is a Mexican and tells me to mind my own business and I told home that he was the one not minding his own businesses. So guess who got thrown out of the movies. Who care I really am sick of getting walked over by invaders. Liberals need not reply.
2013Breakout: Hooray.  Bluster and poor grammar are offensive.  Invaders?  Go beat your own to your heart's content. especially if their grammar is as abhorrent as yours.  The poor kids need it to encourage them to avoid your academic ways.

I don’t blame you! But, may I ask, do you suggest parents do? I have taken babies on several cross-Atlantic flights and, I kid you not, my last one (with an 18-mo old) made me promise myself to never ever do that again.

He screamed for 3 hours. I tried rocking him, feeding him... it was bad - so bad that a “kind” *sarcastically said* retired pediatrician asked me if I had thought of giving him Benadryl (has a catalyst effect on my kids)... when I informed him how much melatonin I had given the child, even he admitted that he should’ve been knocked out.

I cried. I was stressed. My DH even got me me wine. Another passenger offered to try to rock him (to no avail).

It was God-awful.

If parents are clearly ignoring the child - I agree with you. For those who are trying to calm the child - please try to understand their stress, too. I’ve spent more time in the steward quarters and the “hallways” between sections of the plane... it’s not fun. 😢

And as a seasoned traveler I would like to thank you for your attempts to quiet the child. It's usually obvious to other passengers around the screaming kiddo that either the parent IS doing something to quiet the child or they are NOT doing anything too quiet the child. Believe me if you are not doing anything to quiet that child, then initially we are going to stare you down, then we may speak to a flight attendant and then we will say something to you.

I was on a seven-hour flight going from Amsterdam to Doha. Normally on a long flight I would go business class but there were no available seats so I was stuck in the back. Right next to me were the parents and their two kids. It was non-stop screaming for 7 hours. The parents did nothing. Absolutely nothing. The stare-down didn't work. The flight attendants tried but got nowhere because the parents kept saying they didn't speak any English so everyone in that great big airplane got to hear 7 hours of screaming.
