1836 : You are correct, they are within their right to do so, but the trail associations have followed CoH and State of Texas laws and haven't outlawed them on the greenbelts yet. My sons and I would completely support Class 3 e-bikes being prohibited on our greenbelts and/or prohibited for under age 18 riders, and we do feel like that will be an eventual progression of the law. We did a lot of research regarding the current laws to make sure we were buying reputable e-bikes within the confines of the law before we made the investment. This is not to say, that some Kingwood residents haven't done their research and bought cheap Asian import e-bikes that boast speeds above 28 mph, and motors above 750 watts, which are illegal in almost all 50 states. I have even seen a few of these illegal imported bikes for sale at area bike shops, so that's an ongoing problem. I have lived here since 1974, and the "no motorized vehicles" signage has been around since we moved here, well before e-bikes were invented. As a Kingwood resident that has been around for over half a century, we have always understood the signage to be targeted at keeping motorcycles, mopeds, and go carts off the greenbelts; i.e. vehicles/bikes with gasoline engines. In the incidents we have had with residents on the Greenbelt trying to take the law into their own hands, and spout off at us, it's usually an elderly Karen/Ken type person and they are always quite over dramatic and aggressive towards us. When we have asked for HPD intervention in these circumstances; HPD has always checked the class tags on our bikes and informed the irate resident our bikes are legal and allowed to be on the greenbelt. These folks will generally still try to argue with the LEO. We did go ahead and put a restraining order on the woman that whacked my son with a stick, and several of us parents in SWH have a restraining order on a neighbor a few blocks away that likes to pull his gun on kids passing by on the street. We are just sick and tired of running into these folks, who think they know the law and have the right to enforce it. In my opinion, that's a bigger issue than e-bikes. These folks just seem to be paranoid, aggressive, misinformed, **** off at the world, and intent on making everyone they pass as miserable as they are. IMHO, these people are a bigger danger to the community than a kid or an adult getting around on an e-bike.

JamminTX : The minority should fold to the many. Did you know it's legal for trey to put a tent on your property ?

StormChaser : Right. Yet you're somehow not understanding the part about anything under 750W is classified as a bicycle. I don't see on there where bicycles are prohibited.
