Creekwood parents stop parking on WLH

KBubbl3r : I am not aware of any "cry closets" at the University I teach at. This generation of kids are relatively resilient, IMHO, if not ticked off by their overly sheltered childhoods. My freshman college students do surprise me by what basic life skills they don't know (managing finances, doing laundry, cooking, etc.), the vast majority don't get their drivers license until just before they go off to college. While I understand that the economics of teens driving at 16 is unaffordable for many families, mine included, parents aren't even prepping these kids well enough to use alternate forms of transportation like bikes and motorcycles. These kids will tell you outright that their parents were paranoid about everything, thus they get sent off to college completely unprepared to live on their own. They have a strong connection to their peer group, and together they tend to get it all figured out, but it does make for a very stressful freshman year for many.
